The Uganda Cranes squad for the upcoming CHAN tournament in 2024 has been announced by coach Morley Byekwaso, with players selected from a range of Premier League clubs in the country.
Among the clubs contributing players to the squad are Vipers, KCCA, Villa, BUL, NEC, and Kitara. Vipers and KCCA lead the pack with eight players each, followed by SC Villa with four representatives.
While some players have transitioned to new clubs in the current transfer window, their selection was based on their performance in the previous season. Notably, players like Enock Ssebagala (formerly of NEC, now with Vipers) and Herbert Achai, Lazaro Muhindo Bwambale, and Ivan Ahimbisibwe (from Express, Kitara, and URA respectively) were picked for the squad.
SC Villa follows closely with four players making the cut, including Elvis Ngonde, Patrick Kakande, Arnold Odong, and Reagan Mpande. Other clubs represented in the squad include BUL, NEC, and Kitara.
The final 25-man squad consists of goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards from various Premier League clubs, showcasing the depth and talent within the Ugandan football scene.
With the CHAN tournament approaching, the Uganda Cranes are gearing up to compete against top teams, with a strong representation from the country's Premier League clubs.
