Sarah Chelangat Claims Silver at Stockholm Diamond League

STOCKHOLM, Sweden | THE INDEPENDENT | Ugandan long-distance runner Sarah Chelangat achieved a commendable second place in the 3000-meter event at the Stockholm Diamond League held on Sunday, June 15. Chelangat, the reigning champion of the Kip Keino Classic in the 5000 meters, clocked a time of 8:31.27, finishing closely behind Australia's Linden Hall, who won with a time of 8:30.01. Great Britain's Innes Fitzgerald took third place, finishing in 8:32.90.

Reflecting on her performance, Chelangat expressed optimism about her physical condition. "This competition has helped me enhance my preparations for the world event; now I have a clearer idea of what I need to work on as I head to Tokyo," she stated.

In the men's 5000-meter race, Kenneth Kiprop finished fifth in the 3000-meter event, posting a time of 13:02.69. Kiprop shared his thoughts on the competition, saying, "It was fantastic to race alongside such strong athletes from around the world. I am pleased with the experience I've gained and look forward to improving in future events."
