The Premier League's festive fixtures have been announced, with Sky Sports broadcasting 31 live matches over Christmas and New Year. The schedule kicks off on December 26 with a single Boxing Day fixture, Manchester United hosting Newcastle at 8pm.

The Premier League explained that there is only one Boxing Day fixture this season due to the expansion of European club competitions and the subsequent revision of the domestic calendar. However, the League assured that next season will see more Premier League matches on Boxing Day, as the date falls on a Saturday.

On December 27, Chelsea will host Aston Villa in the Saturday Night Football fixture at 5:30pm. The following day, December 28, features a Super Sunday double header: Sunderland vs Leeds at 2pm and Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur at 4:30pm.

On December 30 and January 1, Sky Sports will broadcast 10 live Premier League matches, with no games taking place on New Year's Eve. The schedule includes:

January 8 will feature a huge match between Arsenal and Liverpool, which could have significant implications for the title race. Other notable matches include Manchester City vs Chelsea on January 4 and Tottenham vs Sunderland on the same day.

Sky Sports' Premier League coverage has increased from 128 matches to at least 215 games exclusively live this season, with 80% of all televised Premier League games broadcast on the network.
