St Mary’s Kitende's boys' football team delivered a remarkable performance in the FEASSA Games 2025, dominating EPM Mpanda from Burundi with a convincing 9-1 victory. The match took place at the Kakamega High School playground on Friday, August 15, 2025.

During this one-sided game played under sunny conditions, Arafat Nkoola and Denis Kisiriko stole the show by each scoring a hat-trick. Other players who contributed to the scoreline were Collins Ochata, Frank Ssekanjanko, and Leonard Kasaanya, each adding a goal.

The right back, Collins Ochata, set the pace early in the game with a third-minute goal. Nkoola extended the lead with a goal in the 9th minute, followed by Kisiriko's strike in the 12th minute. Kisiriko added another goal in the 19th minute, while Nkoola scored his second of the day just 5 minutes later.

Kisiriko completed his hat-trick just before the half-hour mark, with the scoreboard showing a commanding 6-0 lead for St Mary’s Kitende at halftime. Shortly after the break, Nkoola secured his hat-trick, bringing the score to 7-0. Ssekanjako and Kasaanya sealed the victory with the 8th and 9th goals respectively.

St Mary’s Kitende, who had suffered an unexpected 1-2 defeat to Bukedea Comprehensive School on the first day, bounced back with a resounding win. Meanwhile, in another match, Budo S.S from Uganda drew 1-1 with Butere S.S from Kenya at the Bukhungu International Stadium.

In the girls' football category, St Noa Girls School Zana from Uganda triumphed over PSS Huye from Rwanda with a scoreline of 6-0. Patricia Nayiga led the scoring with two goals, while Esther Babirye, Mary Ayugi, Slyvia Kabene, and Imelda Kasemere each added a goal to secure the victory.

The FEASSA Games 2025 officially kicked off with an opening ceremony at the Bukhungu International Stadium, where teams from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and Ivory Coast participated. The event featured a procession of all participating countries, followed by the opening match where Musingu S.S overcame Kizuka 1-0.

Football action, along with a variety of other games including volleyball, handball, basketball, and athletics, continued on Saturday, August 16, 2025, as part of the ongoing FEASSA Games.
