Tottenham Hotspur forward Dominic Solanke has undergone a minor surgical procedure to address a persistent ankle injury. Solanke, who last appeared for the club on August 23 against Manchester City, missed training on Monday ahead of Tottenham's Champions League match against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.
Spurs manager Thomas Frank confirmed the surgery during a press conference. "Dom has been dealing with this ankle issue for some time, so we decided to proceed with a minor surgery," Frank stated. "It's a small procedure, which means he won't be available for our upcoming matches against Bodo/Glimt and Leeds. We'll provide more details on his recovery timeline after the international break, but I don't anticipate a lengthy absence."
The 28-year-old England international missed most of the pre-season due to the ankle problem but seemed to have recovered by early August, participating in matches against Paris St-Germain, Burnley, and Manchester City. When asked if surgery could have been performed earlier, Frank responded, "It's not that straightforward. If we had known a month ago that surgery was necessary, we would have done it. We handled the situation as we saw fit at the time, and no one wants to resort to surgery unless it's necessary."
Currently, Tottenham sits fourth in the Premier League with 11 points from six matches. The club has also advanced to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup and secured a 1-0 victory over Villarreal in their first Champions League game of the season.
