Tragedy in Wakiso: Mobile Money Agent Fatally Stabbed During Robbery

A chilling incident has left the community in Nansana East 1 B zone, Wakiso district, reeling as Kyamazima Rose, a local mobile money agent, was fatally stabbed by three unidentified assailants last evening. The attack occurred around 9:30 pm, according to reports, when the victim was on her way home after using an ATM to deposit funds. The assailants, who rode a motorcycle, allegedly ambushed her, leading to a harrowing confrontation that ended in her death.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed that the suspects stole Rose’s ATM card, two smartphones, a basic button phone, and an undisclosed sum of cash during the incident. Eyewitnesses recounted seeing her board the motorcycle before the trio closed in, forcing the rider to flee and leaving her vulnerable to the attack. Despite her efforts to escape, Rose was overpowered and stabbed multiple times, resulting in her demise.

Police from Nansana were swiftly notified and arrived at the scene to document evidence. The body was transported to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination, as investigators work to trace the perpetrators and secure justice. The case has sparked widespread concern over safety in the area, with locals demanding stricter measures to prevent such crimes.

Onyango emphasized that the probe is ongoing, urging the public to come forward with any information that could aid in identifying the suspects. The incident underscores the growing risks faced by mobile money agents, who often operate in high-traffic areas with limited security.
