On orders from Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Director of Counter Terrorism at Defence Intelligence, Colonel Peter Ahimbisibwe, and the Director of Special Operations, Lieutenant Colonel Ephraim Byaruhanga, have been detained. The arrests took place at the Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS) headquarters in Mbuya, Uganda.

The investigation is focusing on allegations that the officers' units were infiltrated by operatives of the rebel group Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). It is believed that false intelligence was relayed to senior military leadership, leading to operational errors and raising concerns about the UPDF's internal security apparatus.

Although formal charges have not been disclosed, the arrests demonstrate Gen. Muhoozi's efforts to address misconduct within the military intelligence system. The detained officers are set to undergo further interrogation as the inquiry progresses.

Gen. Muhoozi has a track record of cracking down on internal wrongdoings since taking command of the UPDF. Several officers have previously been arrested for corruption, insubordination, and sabotaging government programs. More arrests are expected as a thorough investigation of potentially compromised units continues.

The Ministry of Defence is yet to release an official statement regarding this matter.
