UBCL Week 8: A Night of Knockout Victories and Controversial Judgments at Club Obligato

Week 8 of the Uganda Boxing Champions League (#UBCL) brought fans to the edge of their seats at Club Obligato, featuring an impressive display of boxing prowess, intense rivalries, and a blend of decisive and contentious verdicts. The event highlighted the growing talent and depth in Uganda's boxing scene.

In an outstanding performance, Farahat Manilora of Lukanga Boxing Club secured a dominant 5:0 unanimous decision over Muleme Denis (Cobap BC) in the Elite 63.5kg weight class.

One of the evening's most memorable moments came when Kasasa Isaac (Katabi BC) delivered a stunning fifth-round knockout against Mutaasa Ashraf (Mutajjazi BC) in the Elite 71kg division, reinforcing his status as a formidable puncher.

Split decisions added to the night's drama, with Kiggundu Leone (Lukanga BC) narrowly defeating Kimuli Henry (Mutajjazi BC) 4:1 in the Elite 57kg bout. Similarly, Mawanda Depark (EastCoast BC) edged out Ssubi Samuel (Nansana Kyebando BC) with a close 5:2 decision in the Elite 71kg match.

In the Elite 75kg category, Mukuye Harold (UPDF BC) asserted his dominance with a resounding 5:0 unanimous decision over Walugembe Emma (Boggie BC). Meanwhile, Nandaula Zahara (Lukanga BC) demonstrated her skill with a Referee Stops the Contest (RSC) victory in round four against Namagembe Aisha (Nakawa BC) in the Elite 60kg division.

The Youth category also saw intense competition, with Mukasa Akram (Cobap BC) securing a hard-fought 5:2 split decision win over Hussein Ahmed (Lukanga BC) in the 80kg weight class. Kalyango Abubaker (Lukanga BC) showcased his technical abilities with a 5:0 unanimous decision over Serubugo Ashraf (Boggie BC) in the Youth 71kg division.

In the Junior division, Nabakiibi Tracy (Ssaku BC) delivered a commanding 5:0 unanimous decision over Nabatte Prossy (Kyengera BC) in the 48kg category, highlighting the promising future of Ugandan boxing.

The event was marked by a fervent crowd at Club Obligato, with ringside judges facing tough calls in multiple split decision bouts. Elite fighters exhibited exceptional conditioning and tactical skill, while promising youth and junior boxers displayed the talent that will shape the future of Ugandan boxing.
