As the CHAN 2024 tournament approaches, Uganda Cranes forward Arafat Usama has reached out to fans, emphasizing the crucial role they play in motivating and backing the team during competitions.
Usama, who currently plays for KCCA Football Club in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, expressed his gratitude for being part of the final squad of 25 players, acknowledging the hard work that got him there.
With the tournament set to kick off on August 2nd, 2025, in East Africa, Usama highlighted the significance of fan support in helping the team achieve their goals. He shared his personal and team targets, aiming for a successful campaign and qualification out of the group stage.
Uganda is placed in Group C alongside Guinea, Niger, Algeria, and South Africa. The team's first match is scheduled against Algeria on August 4th, followed by games against Guinea, Niger, and South Africa.
The CHAN tournament, launched in 2009, features players from national domestic leagues and provides a platform for emerging local talent. This year's edition, the eighth, will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, showcasing East Africa as a growing football region.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni recently launched Uganda's Local Organizing Committee official website, logo, and team jersey for the Uganda Cranes, building anticipation for the upcoming tournament.
Usama's appeal to fans serves as a reminder of the invaluable role supporters play in boosting the morale and performance of the team, as they gear up for the CHAN 2024 championship.
