The 2025 Uganda Handball National League culminated in an exciting finale at the Old Kampala Sports Arena on October 25. The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) emerged as champions in the men’s category, while Police secured their fifth consecutive title in the women’s division.

Men’s League Standings

UPDF dominated the men’s league, finishing with 32 points—four points ahead of second-placed Prisons. Police secured third place with 21 points, followed by Uzalendo in fourth with 18 points.

Women’s League Standings

The Police women’s handball team extended their reign by claiming their fifth consecutive championship. They concluded the season with 34 points, maintaining a five-point lead over second-placed Prisons. Victoria University (24 points), Kyengeza Bees (23 points), and UPDF (22 points) rounded out the top five.

Final Match Day Highlights

The last day of the league featured intense matches. In the women’s division, Kyengeza Bees narrowly defeated Victoria University 30-29, while Prisons handed Police their only loss of the season, winning 34-30. In the men’s matches, Makerere University beat Evergreen 35-30, marking center back Ivan Odur Junior’s retirement from active play. UPDF also secured a decisive 52-43 victory over Prisons.

The Uganda Handball Federation (UHF) organized the league, which saw thrilling competition throughout the season.
