Rev. Fr. Anthony Baale, Dean of Bujuuko Deanery, publicly criticized the proliferation of disrespectful misinformation aimed at the Catholic Church during the 18th-anniversary celebration of St. Aloysius Sub Parish in Naluvule. Addressing congregants, he highlighted a concerning surge in fabricated narratives designed to undermine ecclesiastical authority, including a widely circulated video falsely alleging fraudulent land acquisition by the Church.
The viral footage featured mocking performances, notably the late Paul Kafeero's song "Bagwana Kufwa Nga Ekikolimo," repurposed to ridicule Church affairs. "Such acts erode the dignity of our sacred institution," Fr. Baale asserted, cautioning believers against falling prey to manipulative content. "Christians must exercise spiritual discernment—those who embrace these falsehoods risk losing their way."
The anniversary event, attended by regional worshippers, blended prayer sessions, cultural displays, and fundraising initiatives. The sub parish aims to collect Shs 100 million for infrastructure expansion, with over half the target already secured.
In his homily, Fr. Baale warned against shallow judgment during liturgical ceremonies, stating: "Many react impulsively without reflection. Avoid desecrating holy spaces or disrupting Mass with irreverence." Florence Kizza Nassuuna, the parish's head catechist, reflected on the community's growth: "Through God's grace, we've evolved from modest origins into a resilient congregation."
John Kisitu, chair of the parish development committee, confirmed partial funds would support the family of Benedict Kisitu—original donor of the church land—emphasizing: "We prioritize transparency. This ground holds profound spiritual significance." The celebration closed with Fr. Baale's call for unity: "Our Church has endured centuries. Let us safeguard its legacy with truth and devotion."
