Uganda's celebrated FIFA referee Shamirah Nabadda has earned a spot among 72 match officials selected for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed Nabadda as one of 28 center referees chosen for the prestigious continental competition.

The achievement comes shortly after Nabadda's recognition as CAF Referee of the Year, solidifying her position as one of Africa's top football officials. She stands as the sole Ugandan representative in the refereeing lineup.

"This selection underscores Nabadda's consistent performance and growing influence in African football officiating," a CAF spokesperson noted.

The CECAFA region features prominently in the appointments, with officials from Burundi (Pacifique Ndahibawenimana), Kenya (Peter Waweru Kamaku), Rwanda (Samuel Uwikunda), Somalia (Omar Abdulkadir Artan), and Sudan (Mahmood Ali Mahmood Ismail) also making the list.
