The 2025 Uganda Handball National League came to a thrilling close on Saturday, October 25, at the Old Kampala Sports Arena, with UPDF winning the men’s title and Police securing their fifth consecutive women’s championship.

Men’s League Standings

UPDF dominated the men’s division, finishing with 32 points, four ahead of second-placed Prisons. Police completed the season in third place with 21 points, while Uzalendo secured fourth with 18 points in the nine-team log.

Women’s League Dominance

The Police women’s handball team extended their reign, claiming an unprecedented fifth consecutive title. They wrapped up the season with 34 points, maintaining a five-point lead over second-placed Prisons. Victoria University, Kyengeza Bees, and UPDF rounded out the top five with 24, 23, and 22 points, respectively.

Final Match Day Highlights

Before the closing ceremony, several crucial matches were played. In the women’s category, Kyengeza Bees narrowly defeated Victoria University 30-29, while Prisons spoiled Police’s bid for an undefeated season with a 34-30 victory. In the men’s division, Makerere University beat Evergreen 35-30, and UPDF secured a convincing 52-43 win over Prisons.

The Uganda Handball Federation (UHF) organized the league, which saw intense competition throughout the season. The awards ceremony honored the champions and top performers, capping off another successful year for Ugandan handball.
