Vipers SC encountered a significant setback in their CAF Champions League campaign, conceding a home lead to lose 2-1 against Zambian side Power Dynamos on Sunday. The defeat at St. Mary's Stadium, Kitende, has left the Ugandan club with a challenging task ahead of the second leg.

The first half was tightly contested, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances. The deadlock was broken two minutes into the second half when Yunus Junior Sentamu capitalized on a defensive mix-up to put Vipers ahead.

However, Power Dynamos equalized in the 53rd minute through Moses Shuma, who took advantage of hesitation in the Vipers defense to score. The visitors then took the lead with just 13 minutes remaining, thanks to an own goal from Vipers' Derrick Ndahiro.

Vipers introduced Enock Ssebagala and debutant Arafat Usama Kizza in an attempt to turn the game around, but Power Dynamos held firm to secure a vital away win. The return leg is scheduled for this Friday in Kitwe, with the aggregate winner advancing to the group stage.

The first half's most promising opportunity arrived in stoppage time when Willard Mwanza made a double save to deny both Sentamu and Milton Karisa. Despite a late push, Vipers couldn't find an equalizer, leaving them with a mountain to climb in the second leg.
