Brentford are reportedly unwilling to part ways with both Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa during the current transfer window, despite significant interest from several Premier League clubs. The duo, who combined for 39 league goals last season, have attracted attention from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Nottingham Forest.
Manchester United have been in discussions with Brentford regarding Mbeumo, but the two clubs remain at odds over the player's valuation. United's offer of £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons falls short of Brentford's £65 million asking price, which they prefer to receive mostly upfront. Personal terms with Mbeumo are believed to have been agreed in principle, with the player reportedly keen on a move to Old Trafford. However, Brentford's sporting director, Phil Giles, has stated that Mbeumo would be content to stay if a suitable deal cannot be reached.
Meanwhile, Wissa has emerged as a target for Tottenham, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest. The latter recently saw a bid for the Congolese striker rejected. Brentford's reluctance to sell both players stems from the significant loss of attacking firepower it would entail, particularly after the departures of manager Thomas Frank and captain Christian Norgaard earlier in the summer.
Mbeumo, who joined Brentford from Troyes in 2019 for just over £4 million, scored 20 Premier League goals last season. Wissa, signed from Lorient in 2021 for around £7.2 million, netted 19 times. The pair have formed a formidable partnership, making their potential departure a major concern for the Bees.
As the transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether any club can meet Brentford's demands and secure the services of either player. For now, the club is determined to retain at least one of their star forwards to maintain their competitive edge in the Premier League.
