Iran has issued a warning of a potential response to recent US attacks, as misinformation continues to circulate online in the aftermath of strikes on three nuclear sites in Iran.
Several videos falsely claiming to show the strikes have gained millions of views, but none were actually filmed in Iran. The misleading content includes footage of a Ukrainian strike on a Russian ammunition depot in 2024, a Russian strike on Kyiv, and an Israeli airstrike on a missile base in Syria, all from different dates in 2024.
High-profile figures like Michael Flynn, former national security adviser to Donald Trump, conservative commentator Clay Travis, and Fox News host Sean Hannity have amplified some of this misinformation. Hannity even claimed on Instagram that "Fordo is gone," despite the inaccuracies in the shared videos.
The dissemination of false information comes amidst escalating tensions between Iran and the US, with Iran vowing to retaliate against the recent attacks. The situation remains tense as both sides navigate the aftermath of the strikes.
