Manchester United's stance on the sale of Argentine forward Alejandro Garnacho remains unyielding, as the Red Devils demand £60m for the youngster who is seeking a move this summer.
Despite head coach Ruben Amorim giving Garnacho permission to leave, a number of clubs have expressed interest in his signature, with Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Napoli being among them. The 21-year-old has made 144 appearances for the 20-time English champions, scoring 26 goals and registering 22 assists across all competitions.
Last season, Garnacho managed 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 appearances for Man United, but his relationship with Amorim deteriorated towards the end of the campaign. The forward was named on the bench for the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur, which led to a heated response from the player and his agent following the match.
Garnacho further antagonized Man United chiefs last month by posting a picture on social media of himself wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford's name on the back. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, speaking to The United Stand, Man United is currently unwilling to lower their £60m valuation of the Argentina international.
This high valuation has reportedly priced Garnacho out of a potential departure, as clubs may find his asking price too steep given his age and recent form. The first-team squad is set to return to Carrington next week, and it remains unclear whether Garnacho will report back amidst his desire to leave and the club's intention to sell him.
Despite Garnacho being contracted to Old Trafford until June 2028, the player has made it clear that he wishes to depart. With Matheus Cunha already signed and a deal for Bryan Mbeumo thought to be imminent, Man United are looking to sell Garnacho to raise valuable transfer funds.
However, at £60m, it seems unlikely that there will be any takers, meaning that Man United may have to drop their asking price if they wish to secure a sale.
