Mea Culpa continues a grim Rotten Tomatoes trend for writer-director-producer Tyler Perry. The new Netflix movie is a legal thriller following a man (Trevante Rhodes) being accused of the murder of his girlfriend who then begins to seduce his defense attorney (Kelly Rowland). The movie, which also stars Nick Sagar, Sean Sagar, RonReaco Lee, and Shannon Thornton, is a rare thriller outing for the filmmaker, who typically creates and stars in comedies or dramas. Only four of his 60 previous directorial titles are thrillers, including Acrimony and A Fall from Grace.
