Andre Ward Names The Champion He Would pick

Andre Ward retired unbeaten and thinks one current star of boxing might end up repeating that feat.

Former multi-weight and unified world champion Ward beat all comers throughout his decorated career. He fought at both super-middleweight and light-heavyweight and saw off the likes of Carl Froch and Sergey Kovalev, ending with a record of 32 fights, 32 wins and 16 knockouts.

eaking to Stephen A Smith, he revealed he is a big fan of Terence Crawford when asked how he saw a fight going between him and Jermell Charlo.

“I’m not going against Terence Crawford with anybody, I don’t care who it is.”

He then credited Charlo’s strength and power but said more than that is needed to beat Crawford

“Terence would have to be careful of that power but you gotta have more than that. You gotta have IQ, tenacity, a willingness to know when to jump into the fire, when to avoid the fire, all those things you have to figure out under pressure under the lights and right now ain’t nobody beating Terence Crawford.”

Crawford has been undisputed champion in two weight divisions having claimed all the belts in both the light-welter and welterweight classes. Most recently he put on a career-best showing against Errol Spence Jr and his coach has since revealed how it was done.

Spence has a contracted rematch that is yet to be officially confirmed, but rumours are it has been triggered. Whether the Texan can fair any better against many people’s current pound-for-pound number one is a different question.
