Froch: Fury Seems Under-Motivated, Was Confused in Ngannou Fight, I Think Usyk Wins

Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch had initially pegged Tyson Fury to overcome Oleksandr Usyk in their upcoming undisputed heavyweight showdown. However, after Fury’s struggles to defeat Francis Ngannou in a non-title crossover boxing match in October, Froch’s prediction has now changed.

Fury, who had a significant size advantage over Ngannou, was shockingly knocked down in the third round. Despite this, he was able to walk away with a split decision victory.

However, Froch is concerned with Fury’s mental state and his current dedication to training, noting that “he seems under-motivated”. He believes this could be a deciding factor in the upcoming fight and has now changed his prediction to Usyk.

“I’m picking Usyk for that one, just because of where Tyson Fury is mentally,” Froch told Talk Sport. “He looked good, he looked different every time. I don’t know, that’s gone now. He struggles to get the weight off him. He seems under-motivated. When he fought Ngannou he looked confused. Has he got old overnight? Hopefully he turns up and gets the job done, because I want those titles to return to Britain, but at the minute I think Usyk wins that fight.”

Back in August, Usyk traveled to Poland and retained the WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight titles with a knockout win over mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois. The fight between Fury and Usyk will take place on February 17th in Saudi Arabia.

Froch’s prediction for the upcoming undisputed heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk has changed, now expecting Usyk to come out triumphant due to Fury’s mental state and lack of motivation. Usyk was able to retain his titles in August when he traveled to Poland and knocked out mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois. The fight will take place in Saudi Arabia on February 17th.
