Star Wars fan-favorite Hayden Christensen defended his performance as Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequel trilogy in a recent interview, highlighting that the nature of the galaxy far, far away should inform how audiences perceive the characters. Christensen first played Anakin in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, following on the heels of Jake Lloyd’s performance as young Anakin in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Both performances, and Christensen’s portrayal in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, were highly criticized, but the prequel movies are now considered some of Star Wars’ best movies.
