Renowned musician Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, has joined the call for the government to lower internet prices. The artist, also known as BigSize, highlighted the importance of affordable internet access in today's digital age.
Bebe Cool expressed his concerns about the current WiFi rates, emphasizing that easy access to affordable internet can help decongest cities and facilitate smoother business operations. "If we have unlimited WiFi, then we will have people engaging in online businesses, which in turn can reduce urban congestion. Cheaper internet rates can significantly boost the economy," Bebe Cool stated.
Despite Uganda being classified as a developing country, Bebe Cool stressed the need for even more affordable or possibly free internet access to level the playing field with other nations. He pointed out that while internet costs have decreased recently, further reductions are necessary to enhance competitiveness.
Bebe Cool highlighted the importance of accessible internet in developed countries, where it has played a crucial role in economic growth and the creation of online job opportunities. He noted that in comparison, some developed nations offer free internet access, providing a conducive environment for digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
The musician's advocacy for lower internet prices aims to promote economic growth, encourage online entrepreneurship, and alleviate urban congestion through increased digital engagement.
