Ugandan musician, Bebe Cool, is pushing for the government to introduce free internet access for all citizens to enhance economic growth. The renowned artist, also known as the Gagamel boss, believes that offering unlimited and free internet connectivity will result in significant progress for the country.

Bebe Cool emphasizes that free internet would pave the way for individuals to participate in online businesses, enabling them to earn a livelihood without the need to travel to urban centers. He argues that this shift towards online entrepreneurship would help decongest cities and promote decentralization of economic activities.

In an interview with a local television station, Bebe Cool highlighted the positive impact of affordable internet on the economy, stating, "If we have unlimited Wi-Fi, then people will join and do their businesses fully on the internet, which will decongest the cities. The cheaper the internet, the easier the economy runs faster."

The musician, currently engaged in promoting his latest album, also pointed out the benefits of free internet for the music industry. He noted that countries known for their thriving music scenes provide free internet, enabling easy access to music streaming platforms. This accessibility has led to increased revenue in the music sector, contributing to overall economic prosperity.

Bebe Cool expressed the need for Uganda to level the playing field for its artists by ensuring that internet access is affordable, if not free. He cited countries like Nigeria, Ghana, and Rwanda as direct competitors in the music industry, emphasizing their significantly lower internet costs compared to Uganda.

By advocating for free internet access, Bebe Cool envisions a future where Ugandan musicians can compete on equal footing with their counterparts in other nations, ultimately fostering growth and innovation within the local music scene.
