Uganda’s Muzamiru Kakande Wins Silver Commonwealth Crown in Thrilling Knockout
Ugandan junior middleweight sensation Muzamiru "The Real King Kong" Kakande (11-1-1, 7 KOs) delivered a dominant performance Saturday night, stopping England’s Kevin Reavell (6-5-2, 2 KOs) in the ninth round to claim the vacant Silver Commonwealth title. The bout ended at 0:54 of round nine after a devastating combination left Reavell unable to continue.
Kakande started aggressively, drawing blood from Reavell’s nose in the second round with a sharp left hand. The Ugandan then surprised fans by switching to an orthodox stance in the third, still controlling the action. However, Reavell showed resilience, finding his rhythm in rounds five and six by outworking Kakande and landing cleaner punches despite a persistent nosebleed.
The tide turned in the seventh when Kakande landed a perfectly timed right hand, sending Reavell to the canvas for an eight-count. Though Reavell continued bravely, the damage began to mount. In the ninth, Kakande sealed the victory with a crisp combination to the chin, flooring Reavell again. The Englishman rose unsteadily, prompting referee Mark Bates to halt the fight.
With this victory, Kakande not only wins the Silver Commonwealth title but also reinforces his position as one of the most promising boxing talents in East Africa. His explosive performance could set the stage for bigger opportunities on the international stage.
