Stranger Things: Every Movie Reference You Missed

Stranger Things: Every Movie Reference You Missed

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the uh, Upside Down… it’s the return of the biggest show on Netflix! Yessir, with season four on the way, we decided to take a look at a whole bunch of references and Easter eggs and other buzzwords that you might have missed in the series. This includes admittedly kinda obvious stuff — like hey, did you know that the Duffer Brothers like to reference Star Wars and John Carpenter movies? SHOCK AND AWE! There’s less obvious ones though, like Carol (who was one of the bullies in season one, and then downgraded to sorta background character in season two) who dresses up in the background of a second season Halloween party in her best Flashdance costume. Then there’s the season three use of the Terminator to base its evil Russian assassin character, the use of Invasion of the Body Snatchers to just kinda… base the plot, and plenty of other nifty allusions to films like Back to the Future, Predator, Pretty in Pink, and a handful of David Cronenberg movies. Yep, shockingly, the Duffers also love themselves some body horror!

Anyway, this description is kinda long. You’re smart (that’s why you like reading so much!), so you get the gist. Lots of stuff about classic films like Halloween and Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, and The Neverending Story. It’s a whole dang smorgasbord of nifty facts!
