If there is one thing everyone knows about Stranger Things is that it is packed full of 80s nostalgia, and in particular the movie of the era, many of which directly inspired the story and tone of the show. The Duffer Brothers are certainly massive cinephiles and they encapsulated a plethora of different movies into Stranger Things, ranging from the more obvious 80s movies such as Ghostbusters and Nightmare on Elm Street, to some more out there movies that you wouldn’t expect.
In this video we are going to go through all of the movie references and easter eggs that took place in Season 4 (Part 1 anyway) of Stranger Things and their significance to the story. From one of the biggest horror movies of all time being referenced several times in the show, quotes from arguably the biggest movie franchise of all time, thematic elements from massive summer blockbusters, posters and hidden background images to classic movies, nods to some of the most notable horror movies of all time (and in particular a Stephen King flick), a plethora of John Hughes movies references, to even being influenced by a surprising critically acclaimed debut movie from a more indie auteur. These are (hopefully) every movie reference to take place in Stranger Things Season 4!
